Had a bit of a shock shortly after pulling into the fast lane of the M1. I spotted a traffic car just off the motorway up ahead and looked down to check my speed only to find that the instruments were telling me I was doing 0 mph, with a rev reading of 0 and no temperature in the engine!

In fact all the dials were as they are when the ignition is off.

This is the second time this has happened in the last 12 months but as soon as you switch the engine off it rights itself.

Unfortunately, the digital mile counter was still counting up all the while which was a shame as I thought I'd found a cure to the problem with depreciation!

Had the same problem with my previous 206 (a 2002 GTI), a known problem so your dealer can sort you out - bit your mileage still wont get zero'd!!!!

Mine did that a while back - bit of a panic ensued as I was almost out of fuel but the light and beeps came on as planned. Dials were out for a few hours though
