LUNACY MARS BRITSH GP
TV viewers and crowds at Silverstone circuit were shocked to witness an act described by FIA boss Max Mosely as “utter lunacy.”
The sport of Formula 1 was left in disarray after TV cameras filmed dangerous acts of overtaking, actually on the track.
One eyewitness described the scene” It seemed as if the drivers were fighting each other for positions on the track, the small Brazilian fella seemed to use a combination of skill and nerve to force his way in front of another car, I’ve never seen anything like it , how someone didn’t get killed I’ll never know”
Other members of the crowd recalled similar events taking place in the 80’s and before.
Bernie Ecclestone was quick to slam Octagon Motorsports and the Silverstone circuit for allowing such a debacle. “We’ve tried so hard to stamp out this sort of thing, and worked very closely with the teams, well Ferrari really, to ensure the race is decided in the pit lane. In the light of today, we may have to bring forward our proposals to introduce electric engines and metal grooves in the track.
Unconfirmed rumours report that Sir Jackie Stewart was wrestled to the ground by a marshall after staging a protest demanding the return of what he referred to as “motor-racing.”
