Called up the main dealer as it probably be worth spending that extra bit of cash.
I asked about the GT kit which includes front & rear bumper, arches and exhaust extension, can't recall how much the kit was but with it sprayed and fitted it comes up to £1350.
They also agreed to colour code the car so i suppose that seems reasonable.
However I still need to get wings and bonnet bringing it to around £1550.
The air bags on the steering wheel and dash needs replacing, They said that would be over £500!!!! would it be possible to buy them from a breakers and fit it myself?
What are your opinions on the GT kit? what side skirts and boot spoiler would compliment it? I dont want it to look too boy racer if you know what I mean..
thanks

I think that the air bag system must be replaced by a dealer to be safe. The issue is also not just with the bags themselves - you'll probably also need to replace the seatbelt pre-tensioners and I think the sensing unit may need resetting as well. The air bags on the steering wheel and dash needs replacing, They said that would be over £500!!!! would it be possible to buy them from a breakers and fit it myself?

When I bent my Mum's 306 the garage had to send the car back to a Pug main dealer to get the pretensioners sorted - the airbags hadn't even gone off but it still took days to get it done.
Also, you need to consider why the insurance company didn't fix up the car themselves - usually they do whatever's cheaper. If they think that buying a new car is cheaper than fixing the old one, you can expect to spend quite a lot of money on it...
Oh and personally I don't like the GT kit, but that's just a personal taste thing!
