Hi Vicky,

Did you find that you got a good signal with the antenna under the bonnet vent?

Cheers,

Chris

Hi Chris

Signal is rock solid under the vent, I could not get a reliable signal behind the windscreen due to the heat reflective coating, was rather unsure if it would work under the vent, but really is good there, average 7 sats locked on a 12 channel unit.

Hi Chris,

Through a Rubber bung in the firewall, (There are several you can use) that just cover up unused entry points. the one I used is about 3" below the main wiring entry point,

when you scroll down to the 206 pics you see the premade go true hole when you use a screwdriver and a hammer the plastic cover breaks off
the go-true at the second pic is not always their.

..keep in mind that the wire number is always more important is then the color or position on a connector (they could change that without notice)
the wire number is 6739 on postion 14 on the connector that vicky suggested if theirs none their you can look at the 10pin black connector then its at position 2 number 6739
if you have a Roland Garros 206 cc then the speedpuls wont be their; it will be at the big wiring tube that runs nexted left side of the engine compartment (dont know if its different with right steer cars) also wire number 6739

just an a quick q: are these the same variant? these are two loose wire so save cutting into existing wire.
If not, then what is CAN low and CAN high?

Don't be cutting into any of the can wiring unless you really know what you are doing, Unless you have a new type of nav unit that uses a specific can interface these wires are of no interest, most nav units need a speed pulse wire (0 volts ground pulse) the frequency of these pulses increases in relation with the increasing speed of the car, the CAN wiring is a data bus (roughly similar to a PC network connection to simplify the explaination). the solution Vicky gave above works just fine.

One more point re the CAN wiring, there are 4 separate buses on the 206 multiplexed cars (3 VAN buses and 1 CAN bus, they are all really CAN protocol busses but they just operate on different data speeds) most suggestions that I have found say to use the connections that go to the auto gearbox area)

Search for CAN or Multiplex on this site as there has been many posts on this topic.
