Hi everyone, I am new to here. I have read all the topics (almost) about installing a new HU to a multiplexed peugeot. However something still confusing me, could someone point out if I got anything wrong with the install procedures.
1. Disable radio function in the BSI at dealer ( is it really need to?)
2. Connect the permanent 12V to the original cable that connects the factory HU ( is it white? ), will it be affected by the ECO mode? or is it better to connect it straight to the car battery?
3. Connect the signal 12V to the ciger lighter
4. Connect the illumination wire to the ashtray light
5. No ISO or whatever adaptor is needed
Thanks very much

1. Disabling the radio in the BSI is advisable, but I never did it no mine and never had any problems. I wouldn't bother unless you notice weird things happening!
2. You shouldn't need to worry about the permanent 12v, just use the existing one in the ISO wiring.
3. Yep, take ignition 12V from the cigarette lighter
4. Yes
5. Indeed.
Let s know if you have any problems.

Haha dangerous tihng to say.. everyone will be telling you that A is better or B is better, but not as good as C etc etc etc...
So I thought I'd jump in first! Personally I like and recommend Kenwood headunits. The sound qulity is very good and there's a huge range to choose from at decent prices.
Pioneer are also quite good from what I hear.
I have a Kenwood unit at the moment, but will probably go for Alpine next time round.
I would caution you against Sony though - some people are happy with them but a quick scan over some of the guru ICE forums will show you that you should stay away from them.
As for JVC (as I see you're looking at) I have no idea - never heard them in a car or even seen any about I don't think.

Clarion and Alpine are the best I reckon, but too expensive. I hate sony headunits, so got a pioneer OEL one today, sound quality is not bad.
The dealer haven't got a clue what I was telling them about the BSI so I just hang the phone up and went to ICE shop.
Had no problem with the installation, we decided to connect the ignation 12V to the original wire, so the headunit will work for 30mins after turning the ignation off.

Oh yeah and a strange thing, when the ignation is off completely (and even when the key removed). turning on the HU will cause the battery light comes on in the dash and the multi-display activated (just like in acc. position) and all goes off after switching the HU off. is that something to do with the BSI or whatever?

Mine did that but it used to annoy me - having to turn the HU off manually whenever I left the car. Oh and it probably comes on automatically when you unlock the car.Had no problem with the installation, we decided to connect the ignation 12V to the original wire, so the headunit will work for 30mins after turning the ignation off.

Hmm.. yes it may be due to the BSI. My guess is that the car realises that the battery is being drained and not being charged by the alternator. I never had this on my car! Would be interesting to see if changing the 12V ignition power to the cigarette lighter fixes it...Oh yeah and a strange thing, when the ignation is off completely (and even when the key removed). turning on the HU will cause the battery light comes on in the dash and the multi-display activated (just like in acc. position) and all goes off after switching the HU off. is that something to do with the BSI or whatever?

If you've used the original HU's 12V switched feed, you can expect this to happen. It's all to do with economy mode and stuff.

I just plugged the existing connector in the car directly into my headunit - no ISO adapters or anything.btw did you rewire the standard ISO from the car to normal ISO?
so did you install a lead cable between the iso and the iso of the radio?
As mentioned here, I also had to swap the ignition and power wires over to get the permanent 12V into the headnuit. I then took the ignition 12v from the ciggy lighter and the illumination wire from the ashtray light. That's all I had to do!
