Driving around this weekend and noticed that a lot of cars have both sets of lights on. Main lights and the little foggies, had a discussion with the missus (doesn't happen often) and we both wondered if this was legal or not as we have heard of the old bill  pulling people over and dishing out fines for this. It does sound a bit of a stupid question and one that I should know

If it's not foggy and you have your foglights on then the police are well within their rights to pull you over & give you a fine.

I'm still curious to know how you tested them :)

My route to work involves me driving through a poorly lit tunnel and as the side lights on 206cc's are shite I put the fogs on as well. Mine being multiplex one twist of the fog light bezel also turns on side lights aswell. been doing this for nearly 2 years now. The front fog lights on my 306 did dazzle though

"Basically, if the lights are on a separate switch with a warning light on the dashboard, these are fog lights, and should only be used in extreme conditions"

Thats of the second link (the old bill one

does that mean if you do a little bit or re-wiring they cant do fcuk all about it? ;)

Everyone here knows my views, so i wont harp on, but basically although i consider myself not a persistent culprit of this, i fail to see the problem really

Also, links 5 and 6 refer only to rear fog lights, which i AM heartily against, but which have no current relevance to this thread ;) ;) :D :D  8)

err, common sense, LOL, put em on, get friend to drive car towards you. LOL
So:

1. Did your friend test multiple cars (with several different ride heights)?
2. Did your friend test being in front of you?
3. Did you test multiple friends (different heights, eyesight etc)?
4. Did you test ALL the above in different conditions (night, rain, etc)?

The fact is that fog lights *do* dazzle, but not all foglights dazzle all people, and not in all conditions.

fog lights dispurse the light wider than headlights across the road, they blind people. Anyone that uses them in anything but *very* foggy weather is a fool! and I do not remember the time I had to use fog lights in a city ! So all those that put them on in misty co nditions are fools too .... oops hit a nerve !
