Thanks to all on the site who have suggested getting the exhaust manifold checked.

We had our CC checked when it was in last week and they did something to it (no paperwork again!) and what a difference, it now feels so much freer and willing to rev and pull, exactly how a manifold fault would manifest itself.

However, we now have a heat problem and an engine management light on which I am not sure if it is related.

Sharon did top up the oil last week and I haven't had chance to check it but Air con and water / oil temps are now quite a bit hotter the before.

Could this be linked to the repaired/ replaced manifold or possibly an over fill of the oil?

Any advise greatfull received.

Hmmm..

1: Could be that they damaged the upstream lambda sensor when they removed/replaced the manifold.. this may cause the fuelling to be out and running lean causing higher tempartures.. and would put the "K" light (engine management) on..

2: Or the manifold gasket or manifold flange gasket is leaking.. Again this would cause fresh air to be drawn in and past the lambda. This again could possibly cause a fuel trim error and or lean mixture to be sensed.. Causing overheating..

Does the engine "pink" when under load? if it does then it is sensing detonation, ie: lean running..

Det or pinking is very damaging to Pistons/conrods/big ends/engines...

So get it looked at Urgently!!!

Or I'm Wrong and it ain't Related.. But still get it look at..

Thanks for that.

It is booked in on Thursday to have it checked over and it only does 40 miles each day so should be fine.

Saying that, the light cleared on the journey home last night and I checked the ooil level which was only slightly over. It may have just been the engine management adjusting to the new air / exhaust flow and over or under fueling it.

It does drive and idle like a dream now, almost as good as my old GTI-6!

Thanks again, we will keep an eye on it.
