Hi everyone.
i have a question...
When you have the door handles and locks removed with buttons on the mirrors to open the doors, how does the locking work? I assume it works with the plip doing the locking/unlocking and applying the alarm as usual and the button replacing the function of the outer door handle.
I have had this done but when pressing the button, the inner handle pops and opens the door. This of course means that the security is working differently. If I click the plip once, the door locks and deadlocks so when you press the button, it unlocks but still won't open. This means the car does not have the alarm on though.
When I press the plip twice to lock the door and set the alarm, all you have to do is press the button on the mirror and the door opens. The alarm goes off but, lets face it, in this day and age, who really cares when an alarm goes off? Its still enough time for something to get stolen from the car. Also of course, once you are in, a thief would be able to stop the alarm if he knows what he is doing.

its been set up wrong mate, the button under the mirror should ONLY activate the door solenoid and like any car if its locked it wont pop open. And the alarm seems to be back to front too. You can have it done as so the alarm button is pressed once it unlockes and press again to pop door. likewise the other way, once to lock and again to deadlock but to be honest no alarms deadlock cars as you dont really need this function hence the alarm and why I say its back to front.
hope this helps mat

Well, the alarm is still working as it was when I got the car. I don't want the alarm button to unlock the car. He decided to do it that way but I told him I wanted it my way. The reason was that the key fob would open the driver door but the passenger door would have to be opened from the i nside. not much good to me.
Thanks for the words chadd. i thought it seemed wrong. I will try to get this resolved before my car goes missing

I'm confused, some people think second press of the lock button on the keyfob deadlocks the car, others think second press of the lock button on the keyfob undoes the deadlocks.... once to lock and again to deadlock...
Which is it?
Just because you're paranoid, it don't mean they're not after you.

well, the test to me is simple. Put the roof down. Click the lock once. The alarm is not set but you can lift the door pins and the door won't open when you pull the handle.
Click the lock twice and the alarm is set but, this time, when you lift the door pins then pull the handle on the door, the door will open but the alarm goes off.

Right it should work like this.
1st button press locks the doors and arms alarm but the door pin can still be pulled up and the door opened from outside.
2nd press deadlocks and alarm is still armed which means you CAN NOT pull the pin up and open the door thats why it is named DEADLOCK!!
if it works the other way then its wrong!

Mine states that the first plip of the key fob dead locks and the second plip keeps the doors locked but releases the the deadlocking.
I have tested this while sat in the car, and mine works as stated in the manual.
Does this mean that the manual is wrong as well?if it works the other way then its wrong!

well mine works and all other pugs work with normal door lock first push and second deadlocks it. I got 2 other pugs at home and they are the same too plus all the other cars I have had have been the second push to deadlock just like when using the key it doesnt deadlock straight away.
cant see the point if pressing it again to undeadlock it and have just norm locking.

Chadd, in a previous post in this very thread, you said "to be honest no alarms deadlock cars as you dont really need this function hence the alarm".
bit of a contradiction matey.
I have not read the manual but mine works the way nobby states which he claims is how it is in the manual. Maybe its your car that is wrong, not ours.

if you read it properly mate I stated No alarms deadlock cars i.e meaning clifford, toad etc. my car is fine mate thanks and is not wrong. I've never known a factory fitted alarm to deadlcok a car first before primarily locking first. go to a dealer and ask to see how a 306 locks cos you press it once and again to deadlcok and the same with my cc!!!!!!!!!

It all depends on which type of cc you've got. Multiplex (2002 on?) has the buttons built into the key and one press will deadlock it and set the alarm, a second press will DEFINITELY un-deadlock it.
The older spec cc's I think have a different key fob(?) Pressing the button once will lock and alarm the car and pressing a second time will deadlock it.
I'm guessing Chadd has got an older cc and the rest of you have got newer ones - so you are ALL right!
(and I did go back to the Dealer to find out about the deadlocks after I was told the wrong thing when I first got my car. Salesman seemed to change his story when I went back to complain that I'd been un-deadlocking my car for a couple of months
