Hi,

DON'T READ THIS IF YOU'RE FAINT OF HEART!

I don't want to worry people but....

A friend of mine was chatting to a breakdown mechanic about her breakdown and he said 'At least it's not a Peugeot.'.

Knowing that I've got a 206cc my queried this. She was told that some of them catch fire!

Has anyone heard of Pugs catching fire?

Saw a 306 on fire on Friday afternoon on the hard shoulder of the M1 near Leicester.

When my friend first got his 206cc brand new, 9 miles down the road, his engine caught fire so they gave him a new car.

I heard it was disgruntled owners torching their own cars ;)

Apparently there was a problem with 307s. When you start the car, sometimes the key didn't go back to the normal position and the starter motor didn't disengage. This caused it to becom very hot & catch fire.

I believe that the affected cars were recalled and fixed.

Thanks for that MattB. I guess us 206cc owners can rest easier.

There was a problem with the 206 too, although to a lesser extent than the 307. Again this recall was a while back so there shouldn't be any need to worry :D :

Nicck,

Great link. No sign of a recall on my friend's Micra, which switches everything electrical on in the night and then in the morning you can't even move the car cos you can't get it out of park!!!

I guess that's not life threatening, just a major pain in the a$%E.
