This is only MY humble opinion but I had a similar dilemma before I got my 206cc. I certainly don't regret it now - even when I see a Megane - still think my car's cooooooooler

No! Danielle, don't do it!!! You know you'll only regret it. You're far too young to want a middle-aged family man's car (sorry, middle aged Megane driving men with families! :sawery: ). Sure they look good but they really don't have the WOW! factor of the 206cc.

Life's too short to drive around with your roof up.

DEFINATELY go for the cc then. Dunno if you've had a rag top before but if you haven't they're cold in winter, steam up really bad and with the roof UP on the motorway at high speed the roof billows/bends, etc. and thats just generally on ANY soft top. Plus someone could break in etc. Plus you's look better in a cc

To each their own
I wanted my b/f to get a Megane, he didn't, he's gone now!
I drove a Megane for a while, I loved it!
It was bright yellow and boy do people look
As for the soft top problems mentioned, they aren't that bad!
Why don't you go and check out a Renault forum and ask them, at least they will give you their opinion after having owned one.
I bought the Peugeot because I look better in it

Well I know a lot of people with soft tops, and I have driven a lot of soft tops, and I worked in the Automotive Retailing Industry, and I have NEVER experienced or heard about any of the problems you have mentioned.

My previous car was a Peugeot 205Cj (soft-top cabriolet). And that wasn't so bad, i remind you that here in Finland winter might be cold
and i drove it throughout the year. No problems BUT the roof need some maintenance :x and when it comes old it might crack (mine had couple of cracks).
And soft top need some extra care. I never washed it with autoshampoo (if you do that it would look awful). I washed it with water or special cleaning-product (don't remember what was it). Then i sprayed the whole roof with cabriolet roof treatment.
So soft tops aren't so bad but i'm very pleased with coupecabriolet's easy care
Here is a link for my previous car, notice the shining roof

My experience is of the 306 cabriolet, BMW 3 series cabriolet and escort cabriolet. They were all cold in the winter and no matter how tight the roof was, they all started flapping at high speed. perhaps you havn't noticed coz of the warmer climate over in OZ sealI have NEVER experienced or heard about any of the problems you have mentioned.
