I went to look at MGFs when I was thinking about getting rid of my cc. The interior did really put me off though - it reminded me of an old 80's MG Metro I used to own - which really didn't bring back happy memories!!
I test drove the MR2 as well which was a nice car. Absolutely no space for luggage though - just a couple of cubby holes behind the seats. It's quicker than the 206cc and more economical too (compared with the 2.0)I was quite tempted to get it but after my mates took the piss for me getting another hairdressers car I decided not to bother.
I've also driven an MX-5 which was nice but nothing special.
At the end of the day its your choice. The cc is more practical than the others but the MR2 and MX-5 would 'probably' be more reliable.

I like the look of the MG's, I know they're just a rover in a pretty shell, but gee, she sure is pretty!!! I don't like the mgf's boggle eyes & think the car is much better looking after it's facelift. I like the size aswell, the MX5 seem a bit odd looking to me, not really my thang!
Any inside info on reliabilty, common faults, leaks! etc with the tf's? :
My cousin has recently got rid of his - 18 months old, 11 trips to dealer for roof leaks that never got fully fixed and the head gasket blew. His was nothing but trouble from day 1.
He's got a Z4 instead...and is much happier.
But that's only one experience...

Yeah, my cc has had its niggles, but all fixed under warranty and none that stopped me driving the car.
It's luck with any car to be fair...and how you're looked after by your garage/dealer. Plus, remember that we've Reap on here - he's a Pug Techi and helps out on problems and stuff.
You won't get that if you buy an MGF!

with all cars you'll find that most forums point out all the bad faults with them as the owners see if someone else is in the same boat and can help.
even with the few niggles that i've had over the years i don't want to get rid of me CC, if they did a CC with a bigger engine such as the GTi 180 then i'd have another as there isn't a car yet built that grabs me attention like the 206CC still does after 3+ years
I totally agree... even though my car has given me the world of problems, I still walk up to my CC in the car park at work and want everyone to see I'm getting in that car and it just makes me smile when I see it, and I think if I got any other car, if I saw a CC drive by, I would always wish I had never replaced mine with anything else.
MG TFs are so beautiful if you have the money for a £200 CD player, £1,000 air con, on top of the usual metalic paintetc... but Peugeot just comes with all the extras included in the price. MG TFs just are too costly for what they are. Save up a little bit more and get a Lotus Elise instead!
ooo no definately not. new MR2s are definately not as good as the old MR2s. They look like something that Noddy should be driving, with tiny tiny little wheels, the most revolting looking interior, no luggage space and I've seen faster snails...

i still think the 206CC is the top choice. wouldn't buy another purely because the style is still the same and a standard one would look terrible from what i am used to with my own.
307CC is likely to be my next stop. keen on the SLK or Crossfire but i'm not to keen on buying a car that will more or less wipe out my savings - would prefer to keep something left over.

MR2's are nice cars and well made with excellent reliability and better than the 206cc. Well this is the burb my mate gives me when he trys to sell me one from his toyota dealership.
I adore my 206cc and if it proves reliable (touch wood) I plan to keep it a long time. The CC is pratical and has the folding hardtop. I don't have a garage so its ideal and I don't need to worry about someone slashing the roof when I leave it parked.

Hehe aww Danielle.. if you like something you should just get it because it's your choice! I'm going to get in the market for a new car soon and I change my mind every single day of which one I want next. It's a really tricky decision and one you have to live with for a while. I can't decide between another CC but in Moonstone or a Honda Civic Type-R.. style vs speed.. :/
I choose style over speed when all my mates starting getting Type R's and scoobys.
In the end you can't beat chilling on a sunny day in the CC. Especially if your mate is sweating away in a air conditionless Type R. He might be faster but I'll be much cooler (in more ways than one!)
