Well, I had fun and games last night. Got in my car, turned the key in the ignition and my window went all the way down followed by the smaller window panel. Tried to put it up again, dead. Got out car, alarm on, alarm off, back in car. Still nothing.

Went home dreading the thought of a trip to the garage in the morning. Didn't know whether Peugeot Assistance (got free with car when I bought it) could help, but called them anyway. Very helpful man from the RAC arrived an hour or so later. He said it wasn't the fuse (as the passenger side was working), wasn't the motor as the lights weren't dimming so called for help. He said he'd never been called out to a 206CC before (good sign as in they don't go wrong too often, bad sign as I wasn't sure if he knew what to do). He spoke to his office and they said to "download" the computer so he did something with the battery which clears the memory and then reboots it. To cut a long story short, we tried it again and it still didn't work and he said I'd have to go the Peugeot dealer as he thought it might be the microchip in the window switch. Then had the joys (at 10.30 at night) of sorting our garage so I could put the car away! So, this morning, turned on car, tried the button, windows worked!!! Will call Peugeot later as didn't think there'd be any point going there as they'd say the problem was solved.

Now, here's my questions. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you think it's now corrected itself? I'm obviously concerned that it will happen again. Ali - I can't remember your friend on this site who is "our expert" - can he help? Also, the radio is now wiped so how do I put the code in to reinstate it - do I have to go to Peugeot for that in any event?

Will let you know what the garage says when I call them later today.

Over to you guys!

Cheers.

Hi Jane,

Oh no! :(

Send a PM to reap - he's the techi, but probably won't be able to read it until tonight, but sure he'll be able to help you out.

I've just mastered the art of the one touch driver window up/down..only taken me 3 months!

(Thanx for PM by the way..)

There seems to be a lot of electronic connections (not ver good ones!) that run under the seats and in the passenger footwell.

I've had problems where a bottle has rolled under the passenger seat and all manner of warning lights show up on the dash. When the bottle rolled out the lights reset.

Also pressure on the connections in the passwnger footwell can cause the brake lights to come on!

Maybe a similar problem caused the windows to trip out. :hyper:

I have another windows question.

Is the following normal?

When I press the electric windows button all the way down, on either the passenger or drivers side, I can remove my finger from the button and the windows continue to go all the way down.

However, when i pull the switches all the way up only the drivers side comes all the way up and I have to hold the button for the passenger side.

It just struck me as strange as every car i have ever had with electric windows before have been the same on both sides.

Nope, pug windows are different.

On passenger side, the window only moves when you press the button. There is no "one-touch" mode.

The drivers side is a bit odd. With the engine running, there is a one-touch operation. If feel the button when you press it down or pull it up, there is a slight click at either end of its movement. ie if you touch the button down *lightly* it will only move down as long as your finger is on it. If you push it down firmly it will go all the way down even if you let go.

With the engine stopped I think one-touch mode is disabled.

I've also heard there are settings in the BSI to change this operation.

Thanks for that,

It is just one of the many little questions i have thought of since buying this car.

I always seem to think of a question then as i sit down to type it in, I forget it.

I've had occasionally back windows problem, they didn't came up or down.
In last warranty service they changed both window switches and after that no problems. Jem if your car is under warranty i suggest you talk to dealer to change your window switches.

Thanks for the info everyone. I spoke to the garage yesterday and the man was (surprisingly for them!) quite helpful. He said that most new cars now have a kind of self reset on the computer/electronics so it must have corrected itself overnight. How true this is I don't know and, if so, can anyone tell me how long this reset takes? Just wondered because, if it happens again, I'd like to know if it's minutes or hours to wait! There again, if it happens again, I'll definitely take it in to the garage.

There is a procedure on the forums somewhere to get both the front windows to one touch up. I asked my local dealer to do it when I had my service and although they had never done it before I gave them the procedure and they did the work gladly.

Works great (especially useful in this nice weather not having to sit holding the switch when putting the roof up).

If you can't find it let me know and I will dig it out and post it for you.

yeah i must admit i am leaning more to the fact you have a dodgy switch on your car.there is defo no reset button (so dont know where that came from.)did you have engine running when windows got stuck?you car may have gone into eco mode.anyway,as long as it works now. :D

To get both front windows work to one touch up you have to change the passenger's side window switch to auto up switch. So there is no software update chance

You need:
- Pug dealer with a diag2000 (software not older then 3 months)
- Car has to be running (althought some people did it without the car running)

1. Connect the CC to the Diag2000. It wil say:"Hi I'm a Peugeot 206" and come up to a menu.
2. Menu-choice: "Doors/Flaps control"
3. Menu-choice: "Remotecoding"
4. This will put you into the window menu.
5. Press the "STAR" and choose "Both Front Windows Up". (It normally gives four choices: none, left, right and both)

Thanks to Fanmail for the original posting :D

As I said previously, I got my dealer to do it and the switch change was not necessary. Windows have worked to one touch up ever since. Perhaps Peugeot realised they could save 0.0005 Euros building the car by getting another switch sometime after my car was built but give it a shot.......my dealer had never heard of it so it could just be that yours are trying to charge you for a new switch which isn't necessary and drag the job out for an hour costing you £50+ plus parts.

Sounds very interesting
I think it's time to visit the dealer. I think they don't know this procedure, cause they have been very helpful to solve all my problems. I might even say it's the best dealer i've met sofar

This is most bizarre - I was sure I hadn't got one touch on the passenger side...but lo and behold, I pulled the switch up, let it go and it carried on :o

Either I've got it...or the windows are playing up! Can't make my mind up yet!
