Hiya.
Installed my Alpine headunit at the weekend but I am havign a problem with it.
It all works fine except it doesn't seem to be storing settings. When I switch the unit back on, it starts playing the start of the disc, not where it left off. It also doesn't remember the button colours I have set and it starts off with the default volume of 12, not the volume I left it at.
The unit is an Alpine CDA-9855R. Anyone have any ideas on why it may be losing these settings etc?
The only thing I haven't really done in terms of wiring it up is connecting it to the ignition but his is only supposed to go to a power supply that is active when the ignition is on or in the accessory position so that surely shouldn't matter here?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
Any ideas

You'll probably find that you don't have an ignition power coming through the ISO plug, only a permanent power or the weirdo power that only turns on/off when you lock the car.
I ended up taking ignition power from the ciggy lighter.
Two years later and my car doesn't have a cig lighter... or a radio.. or power stearing... or servo brakes... airbags no chance, not even seatbelts... or carpets, headliner, upholstery...
All I have to worry about is the distributor and oil change every 1000 miles!

get the adaptor lead 970686 from you dealer since with the MUX cars just switching around the perm and switched 12v wont work.
never cut into original car cables because of the datawires and if you happen to blow up something its verrrry expensive.
if you had a RD3 installed have your dealer sign off the radio with their diagnostic computer to prevent problemen with freezing of the car display.

you dont need to do all this i guess, i had the same problem but just do like this:
i guess you might have a red wire that goes into 2 and a yellow one coming from the iso plug
instead of plugging them by colours try to plug the yellow with the red and vice-versa...i think thats how i did it and it was fine!
good luck
