Door not closing properly

Hi...

I'm having a problem where my driver door doesn't close properly. It looks like my window is catching onto my roof, because if I roll the window does just a bit the door closes properly and with no problem. Also if I put the roof down the door closes easily. I really have to slam the door to close it when the window is up.

I've taken the car into the garage for a look and they re-aligned the windows, roof and door which helps for a while but now my door has started not closing properly again.

Anyone else having the problem or know how to solve it???

yea im having the same problem and have no idea how to solve it, i aint taken the car to Pug yet cuz last time they took it away for a problem with the windows i didnt see it for almost a week...its really annoying, as i have to wind the window down a tiny tiny bit when i get out of the car or it dont close properly...ive hurd of other people with this problem too so it seems like its one of them common ones!
How long did they keep your car when they re-alligned your windows?

i did have this problem for a while, all i did was shut the door without my hand on the handle as by doing that you are lifting the door upslighty so it catches on the rubber seal,if that makes sense.

also try using a silicon based rubber cleaner to make them more supple like 'rubber and vinyl care' (something like that) from Autoglym, please do a search as it's been discussed b4

Mine has done that for about 6 months and I could never be bothered to take it to Peugeot due to the fact that they would probably make it worse. When you have had it for a while, not only do you notice it when you just shut the door, but when driving at high speeds on the motorway you can really hear the air swirling around outside the door.

I was recently involved in an accident and when taking my car to the garage to be repaired I showed the 'bodyshop man' and he told me that the top of my window was closing on top of the rubber seal rather than in it and that he would fix it for me.. horah, a proper mechanic who doesnt work in Peugeot.. always a pleasure.

Yes same problem on mine.

It only happens sometimes when the roof has been up and down. Next time the roof goes up and down it is ok for a while again.

How long did they keep your car when they re-aligned your windows?

They only kept my car for a day, all they did was realign the doors, windows and roof. I also had some rattles in my driver rear window, which they fixed, but is back now again

If I close my door slowly I can actually see where the window is catching the rubber seal on my roof. It is slightly easier to close my door from the outside as I can push down on the door as I close, but from the inside it feels like I'm gonna rip the plastic off the door!!!

I can also hear a lot more wind noise on the driver door (just between the two windows) as compared to the passenger door. Itâ€™s really annoying.

The mechanic at the Peugeot garage recommends I lubricate my rubber seals as often as I can, At least every time it rains or I wash my car. This also seems to help my door to close easier, but still will a lot of effort.

i'm taking it in again next Thursday, I'll let you know what happens.

Go to a good panel beater, and tell him to adjust the door. What's needed is to turn a small screw where the door locks and the job is done! But don't do it yourself, it's a small setting that needs to be done by a professional. Besides, the problem you're experiencing regarding the window overlapping on the seals is because the door is being closed from the lever. I was instructed by the panel beater that Cabrios need to be closed from the glass window. When you're closing from the lever, you are pulling up the door. Besides that keep in mind air resistance inside the car. Having all windows closed means more internal air resistance inside the car that needs that you put more strength in closing the door. Leaving the window abit ajar means a better outwards airflow. Having said that, it's better that you put the knob setting (the one on the dutch board) of the air intake to come from outside and not to keep the air inside. Hope that this helps!

My door is closing properly finally. The peugeot mechanic said that he just adjusted the door and realligned the windows again. It's been okay for the past month or so. Hope it stays that way.

New car goes in tomorrow for the same problem!

Cant believe how common it is!

Does anyone know if this will be done under warrenty? Or shall i ring them back up and sit on the phone for half hour to find out?

I just took mine in for its last service and warranty (3 years) and they adjusted it no queries and no bill. Worth mentioning is there is an end of warranty inspection plus MoT for Â£59 (though this is not the intermediate "service" that it needs at that point).

Edit: Just checked the receipt, they charged Â£30 to "CARRY OUT ADJUSTMENT TO NSF DOOR" and then charged it to warranty further down the invoice. So if it's not warranty covered it's not extortionate either.
