I hope this helps someone with the problem I had.
I have just bought a 2002 peugeot 206, 2.0 litre diesel. Whenever I went over 60 MPH, the anti pollution fault message came on and I lost power, having about 55mph as a top speed. After I had started the engine about 4 times, the light did not show and the problem seemed to have cleared again until I sped up!
I took the car to two peugeot garages and £400 and 7 visits later, the problem was still there. The MOT was due and in desperation, I tried to get the light to come on so another garage could have a look at it. In complete temper, I drove on a dual carriageway with roundabouts all along it and revved the car into the red. After the third time of doing this, the car surged forward, gave me complete power and I have had no trouble since. I drive about 1000 miles a week.
I have been told since that this was probably due to the car being kept stationary with very little diesel in before I bought it and some gunky fuel therefore got stuck somewhere in the engine - by revving it up, I dislodged the blockage and off I went.
I'm amazed that the garages didn't think of this, surely it is a common problem?
