Hi Folks,

I just picked up my CC on Saturday, it's a 2003 2.0L Allure, 22k on the clock.

I bought this privatly, and after test driving it everything was fine, it's last service was 20k, which indicated no problems.

Drove it all day Saturday and it was fine, but then yesterday morning and this morning I noticed a slight rattle noise, when accelertating. Perhaps i didn't notice this Saturday as it was about 100c and i had the roof down!

After reading a few posts, this sounds like a common problem - the manifold.

Manifold aside, I also noticed a slight bubble of rust on the roof, just above the door. I looked in my handbook and it states that there is a paint work warrenty of 3 years and a corrosive warrenty of 6 years, without sopunding stupid, :| This should be covered under the corrosive warrenty right?

I've called PUG and got it booked in tomorrow, and whilst im there i'm going to ask them to take a look at the the suspected Manifold problem. If it is the Manifold problem does it have to be PUG who fix it? Because TBH i'd rather have it done elsewhere?

Thanks guys.

Phil.

It's out of warranty so you can get it done at a good independent I guess, but I would get the rust issue sorted first if you aim to get that done under warranty.

I got the car back from the garage, they had it 17 days, they couldn't repair the patch of rust so they had to replace the whole roof! 17 days with a 107 is not much fun.

Although on first look at the new sills, it's looked like they had been measured up with a yard brush, so i did the water test and guess what??? Yep they leaked. So back to the garage, this time 3 days but now i'm water tight!

I've still got the rattle, went to my local mechanic, he couldn't possibly see how it was the manifold rattleing as it doesnt' make the noise when stationary, so he secured the heat sheild around the middle section of the exhaust, but that hasn't solved it.

Can i ask a question of anyone? The noise assotiated with the engine cover, is that a rattle (like metal on metal) or more of a dull rattle, if that makes sense?

Thanks, Phil.

Did you ever get the rattle sorted out?
My 206 has developed the same metal on metal rattle on acceleration and was wondering if you identified the issue
