Hello,

This is my first posting on the site.

I wanted to buy a cabriolet 206, and i have a number of questions.

I was wondering what the difference between a 206 Allure and a sport is.

I was looking up the specs for the Allure and it says that it has got DAC and CC, what does that mean?

Is the convertibles available only in 1.6 and 2.0 or is there a 1.4 option which would allow for a lower insurance premium (over 1.5 engine size result in insurance premium goes up considerably.)

I was having a look at the posts on the forum, and read about quite a few water penetration issue, is this with older models or is this still an issue?

I was looking at buying a 1-1.5 year old with low mileage, automatic. what is a good price i can expect to buy it for?

Hello and welcome to the forum,
The 206 Allure is the upmarket version, the sport is more basic.
I presume CC is cruise control, but our 2005 1.6 Allure hasn't got cruise control.
DAC will be Digital Air-Con where you can set the temperature digitally, again ours has the more basic air-con.
Petrol engines are 1.6 and 2.0 only. Ours is the 1.6 and has given us no trouble whatsoever.
We have had no water ingress at all, and no roof problems either. Others have, as you will see from a search of this forum.
I wouldn't go for an automatic gearbox myself as the French manufacturers have not got a good reputation in this respect.
At this time of year you should be able to buy a 1 year old 1.6 Allure for less than £11,000 privately. Don't rush into it. Dealers will want more.
Best Wishes,
Ron

CC - Stands for Convertable Coupe, i've got the 2.0L Allure, it's a bit juicy doing around 27mpg on average (combined), but worth it for the extra power. The digital Air Con/Climate control is a nice touch.

I would definatly get an Allure, so many for sale out there so bide your time till you get the right one, the 2.0l is the GTi engine it has the better looking GTi wheels... Get an insurance quote on the 2.0 (Grp 14) and the also 1.6 you might be supprised that there isn't much difference, my insurance is £100 cheaper on my CC than on my Puma and the Puma is a group 12.

Go test drive one at your local garage, because in all honesty if i had the choice again then I probably wouldn't buy one. But for the money you pay, there's not much out there to rival it.
206cc, 2.0L Allure. Azure Blue.

Sorry, further research reveals that DAC + CC stands for Digital Air Conditioning plus Climate Control.

doctorphilip states that CC stands for Coupe Convertible and of course in 206CC it does. But in the context of peugeot206_guy's question that is not the answer. Other 206's beside the 206cc have DAC + CC. e.g. Peugeot 206 1.6 16V SE 5dr Tip Auto [DAC+CC] Hatchback

I trust that this clarifies it for you.

What doctorphilip says about test driving one is a valid point.

Incidentally our 206cc averages around 37 mpg.

thanks for the replies,
i definitely need to have an automatic, would you still recomend the 206cc

what is the difference between the sport and the allure?

doctorphilip, why would you not buy one?

i googled for the 206cc and came acros this review
http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/cars/peugeot-206cc/1048971/

it states the following "Lastly the bit THE ROOF - Its so sexy, up or down. It doesnt take long to go throguh the motions and it even has the "fasten your seatbelt" aeroplane warning style noise one completed. There is a slight problem though, it is notorious for the 206CC roof motor to break down, and should it decide to do so it will cost you a whopping £1500 if not more.So my first few weeksn of showing off may have been more damaging than i thought."

is the roof problem a common problem, or has this been resolved (as per some other sites). i am planning to go for a one year old, 56 reg. i have looked up the price on parkers (11700 GBP).

i have a concern that if i go for a private buy, then i will lose the benefits that the franchise dealers have to offer.

if i go and buy it from a franchise, can i hold the franchise dealers to parkers price and get them to see it at that. also i am planning to part exchange my older cars, is it possible to part exchange two cars and that too at the price that parkers quote?

i need to get rid of two cars to get a new car. in that context is going the part exchange at a franchise the best way.

Perhaps some auto owners will respond, as I can only comment on what I've read about French autos - not from my own personal experience.

what is the difference between the sport and the allure?

I can't remember all the detail but:
body colour bumpers
air con
leather
drilled alloy pedals
alloy gear knob
wheels
different ICE

I believe that most roof problems are self-inflicted by the owners who don't read (and follow) the operating instructions fully and to the letter.

i have a concern that if i go for a private buy, then i will lose the benefits that the franchise dealers have to offer.

What benefits?? Read what others have to say about dealers!!! We wanted a 1 year old Allure, we test drove one at the main dealer who wanted about £14,000 for one. We searched (carefully and painstakingly elsewhere) and bought one privately for £11,000 which was immaculate. We got the balance of the 3 year warranty, which we haven't needed as nothing has gone wrong with the car. So we saved ourselves £3,000 thank you very much.

You can try !!!! Depends what your two older cars are. I generally sell our cars privately when we eventually change (which isn't often). AutoTrader seems the best option, although eBay can be useful for bangers, but do be careful of the scammers who are out there to rob you!!

i need to get rid of two cars to get a new car. in that context is going the part exchange at a franchise the best way.
Again, I would try to sell privately but you can ask the dealer to quote. You might be lucky. But I suspect you will end up getting bottom book for the two you are disposing of, amd paying top whack for the one you are buying. Once you have bought the new car assume that the after sales service will be zero. Then you won't be disappointed. P.S. I may sound cynical but I am not, I'm just being realistic.

[PG206G]so there are no benefits the franchise dealer has to offer?

the balance of the 3 year warranty is exactly the same as the balance which a franchise would have to offer?

[PG206G]thanks for the warning, how can scammers get out to rob me on ebay?

[PG206G]Is the after sales service from peugeot, that bad, and i can expect to be scammed on any visit to the garage?

Hi Adrian.
This thread is over 5 years old. A 206CC *is* a coupe cabriolet. Yours just has the badge missing.
Cheers Col.
