I have a 2001 Y reg 2l 206cc. I'm getting a few little electrical niggles, and I was wondering if anyone could help me over come them.
1. My interior light doesn't work on opening the door. When you switch off the engine & you have the headlights on, it comes on then for a little bit, like it should. It alsom comes on when I flip the switch to manual, but it won't work on opening either of the doors.
2. My central locking won't play. The boot will lock with it, but not the doors. I've printed off the details to reset the key, and I'll give that a try, but given that the boot works, I dn't know if it's the key. Presently, I'm having to lock each door manually.
2a. also, does that mean my car alarm isn't setting?
Thanks in advance,
Liz

Hi liz
It sound to me that you might have a bad earth or maybe the switch is dirty or faulty on your interior light. (You might be able to clean it with wd and a cloth only btween the brass bits of the switch) (Best to remove it from car first as this will stop the risk of being shocked)(also try)
If you turn on your ignition, then push the switch to the manual does it come on and stay on?
Also if you use the fob to open the car does the light come on for a short time (it has to be set to automatic for this)?
There are some fuse you could also check, even if they aren’t blown they may be lose, these are:
MF07 a 30 Amp (Found In engine Fuse box)
MF05 a 70 Amp (Found In engine Fuse box)
F4 a 10 amp (Found In passenger Fuse box)
F22 a 20 amp (Found In passenger Fuse box)
There is also control unit like a relay (Found In passenger Fuse box) this controls the timing of the light. Looking at the layout it might be the problem as it is also wired to the door locks.
Test Your central locking, if you sit in the car and push the button down to lock either of the doors, does the central locking kick in and lock all the doors?
Also if you press the key fob to lock the doors (I know the doors won’t lock) wait 30 seconds then open the boot (with the key) (the alarm should sound)?
Also look for the flashing indicators and the flashing light (on the hazard warning button) At least if you don’t find the cause of the central locking problem the at least you can still set the alarm.
Hope some of this is helpful to you
