Hi,

I've been having ongoing problems with my CC for the last 3 years and Im now getting desperate.

On very cold mornings the car starts up and instantly the engine management light comes on and the screen flashes cat converter fault followed by anti polution fault. The cat was changed about 2 years ago and the Lamdba sensors have also been changed.

The rest of the time the car runs ok-ishbut is jumpy/lumpy it is often reluctant to start and sometimes stalls and on a few occasions I have had loss of power.

I frequently have to refil the oil (about every 6 weeks or so) is this normal?

It is a 52 plate 2.0 litre SE.

If you can help diagnose this I will be eternally grateful as I never seem to get anywhere with garages.

Thank you

Kirsty

How often do you change the engine oil and filter? It is not normal to have to top up every 6 weeks unless you're doing about 1000+ miles per week.

The oil and filter was replaced last August. I probably do about 100-200 miles per week.

That's heavy use of oil. Probably worn rings, or a broken ring. Is the exhaust smokey? Have you had a compression test carried out? Is there a significant oil leak?
