I have just bought a 2003 1.6 auto 206CC which initally seemed ok, BUT........ now that I have taken it for a good run (only about 15 miles) the gearbox seems to have develped a problem. on arriving home I put it in neutral while her who must be obeyed got out, but when I put it back into drive (or reverse).........nothing.....clicking it backward and forward between drive and neutral did no good, but when I revved it up whilst in gear it suddenly dropped into gear with a bang and jumped forward. After leaving it for a while it seems ok again although thinking back the gear changes did seem to 'vary' whilst out and about. (staying in 3rd a lot).
I should say that this car has not been driven for over 18 months as the previous owner was banned . Could this poss be the problem. ?
Reading some of the older forums they talk about problematic solenoids, how can I find out if mine have been replaced with the later type which apparently resolve some of the issues with auto gearboxes?
Any help will be great as I am beginning to think I have bought a 'pup' and not a 'pug'!!
