Hi all.
I have read through lots of the 206 entries here, but this seems a bit different.
I have a 2001 X 206 1.4 which has this problem. No speedo reading on dash plus when engine is turned off and key removed the battery light flashes on and off for a while. When this happens the ignition electrics work whilst the battery light is on, hence the wipers could wipe if they were on, the fan could ble etc but the remote does not work whilst battery light flashes. I took it for a diagnostics check and they said there was a speed reading so not faulty speed sensor, the battery light flashing indicates a faulty binnacle. So i should order a replacement. anyway i carried out the BIS test to see if resetting would help. Answer no! Then i thought i would remove the binnacle to see how many connections it had for ordering. Answer is 2. When i put the old one back on, there is no readin of anything apart from the battery light comes on. Nout else, no speed, temo, tacho, mileage reading etc. Oh dear..........any help would be appreciated. Rich

Re: 206 dead speedo problem
Hi Rich and welcome to the forum.
It sounds like the plugs may not have engaged properly in back of dash binnacle causing all gauges to fail. Did you remove it with batt disconnected or ign off?
Was the flashing Batt light rhythmical or random? Did Peugeot do the diagnostics?
BTW your car is pre plex

Re: 206 dead speedo problem
Hi and thanks for quick reply.
The dash binnacle was removed with ignition off only.
The flashing light is rhyhmical and pulses randomly for 1 sec, or up to 1 min after engine stopped and key removed.
I have ordered a replacement used binnacle from PArts Planet Ltd today.
I have been told that as its a pre 2002 car the part should "plug in and play".
I am pretty clued up on Saab cars but i am amazed by how many hiccups the 206 has!
The car still runs fine but no readout from dash, it will even start without the dash connected!
Regards
Rich

Re: 206 dead speedo problem
Let us know if it cures the fault. As I said, yours is pre plex ie non BSI
