new dash display

Post by Malla25 »

Hi,
does anyone know where can i get new dash display unit for 206cc? You know, the one where date, time, temperature are shown. Mine the lights are almost gone so the man in the garage said i need to get new one. I've tried to change the bulbs but with new luck as the screen is busted. I've tried to look everywhere but can't seem to find one :S

Make sure all the bulbs are actually working. The capless ones can be hard to get a connection if the thin wires are not in the right place.

Are you capable of taking the unit apart you might find it is one of the pins that connect the 2 halves of the unit together. They come away from the circuit board so the top and bottom get disconnected. Re-solder it back on and ... bingo. You save yourself a few quid.

There's a how-to here ... http://www.206info.co.uk/Forums/viewtopic/t=206.html

There are different types .. PPT30, PPT40, etc and you also have the pre-mux/mux versions ... I'd suggest checking the 206info site and seeing what people are offering for sale. We got a replacement from there. There may be few breaking some. I've had to fix it as the bulbs appeared to have blown after a few weeks, but it was the pin problem.

You could also try e-bay, but they aren't that cheap on there ...

So those three small pins were definitely in place?

If that's the case, then it could be the display ... if someone has pressed to hard on it to clean it, that can break the internal liquid crystal lines.

Make sure anything off ebay matches yours.

Can you post a pic of it powered up from in front, and possibly one of the back too?
I have a couple of spares at home, and one of them may be compatible.
