MAP/IAP Sensors

Post by moomoo »

Hi my daughters' 03 206 (petrol) started cutting out when de-accelerating but would usually start again no problem. Then it did it and wouldn't start. RAC spent 90 mins checking this and that but couldn't definately isolate the problem. Had diagnostics check, which showed the above 2 sensors, but was told changing the sensor may not solve the problem. A friend then told me how to check if there was power to the sensor using digital volt meter, which showed there was no power to the sensor. Any idea what to try next? Could it be the battery? If so how do I check this. Thanks in advance for any ideas. :popping:

If the battery is the original then you should consider that it is 10 years old. Spurious faults can occur with the 206cc when the battery is on its last legs. If the car is a 206cc and you do renew the battery, do bear in mind the the 206cc battery is taller than the one for the hatchback. Get the battery from your Peugeot dealer and you shouldn't go wrong. Heed the notes in the owners manual when changing the battery.

If the battery on it is the wrong one for the car then that could cause connection problems because of strain placed on the terminals.

Hi and thanks for your reply. I do not know how old the battery is; my daughter bought the car last July, but will try and find info from previous owner. Had a thought though-if the battery was old, wouldn't that mean the car wouldn't start? This car starts no probs.

If the battery is starting the car ok in this cold weather then it is fine. Batteries usually have a date on them but it may be on the side or the back.
