Left Top Down in Rain - Windows Not Working

Post by Lazyloki »

Hi guys,

First post here. Was hoping you could help me out with a problem on my girlfriends car. A couple of days ago she went out and left the top down on her 206 CC while it was at home. While she was away there was an unexpected rain shower (she lives in Cyprus and didnt see it coming).

When she got back the inside of the car was soaked although luckily the roof closed without any problems, mine of the windows won't go up. After letting it dry out for 48hrs she turned the car on and the other window went down by itself and now it won't come up either - maybe it's a safety feature for if you go off the road into a lake!

Anyway, what's likely to be the cause of this and would it be a relatively simple fix? Any ideas of cost?

Ill try and answer any questions you have but unfortunately I can't get a look at the car myself as I'm not in cyprus at the mement.

Cheers

Obvious answer is water in electrics. Window switches maybe? Dry interior with de -hum and see if they comeback to life.
Cheers Col.

Yeah I figured that water had got into the electrics, probably into the actual window switches rather than anywhere else. Will give the dehumidifier a bash, thanks, but failing that what parts would we be looking at replacing? Expensive fix?

First things first. Dry it out with a dehumidifier then if it doesn't come back to life check the fuse. No point in jumping the gun.
