Why Is My Car 'Bleeping' When Driving???

Post by bestbass42 »

OK, driving along in my 2003 206cc the car 'bleeps' and in the display in the centre of the dash all the info (radio station, date,MPG etc) disappears and a picture of a car appears for about 5 seconds then goes off & the info on the screen comes back. This happens approx every 15-20 seconds.Does anyone know why this is happening???

Other problems I've listed in another thread are the roof wont go down and also the car wont lock with the remote fob,it locks then the locks pop back up straight away and a bleep comes from the alarm. Don't know whether these two faults are whats causing the above???

Thanks in advance.

For the car display on multi function display, there are switches on bonnet, doors, boot, and roof, if one isn't secured to the cars liking the display will light up and bleep, look at the display closely and hopefully the offending section will be lit and then go from there.

My car does exactly the same, but only IF the doors/boot or bonnet aren't properly shut

OK Update; Problem SOLVED!!! As ive put in other threads this car has had a few problems since we got it from BCA (I'm a motor trader). First central locking wouldnt work, the locks kept popping up & alarm bleeped, second the boot needed slamming HARD to shut, third the roof wouldnt open & then this one.

So today i took Buggys advice and checked the display when it kept bleeping and noticed the boot part was showing. So again thanks to another member on here i adjusted the boot lock inside the car (two star screws-very easy, just inside the boot) and hey presto, not only does the boot now shut perfect, the central locking works, the roof works & no bleeping display!!! Talk about a weight off my mind! One small hitch had me sweating though as when i tried to put roof back up it wouldnt work!!! Put this down to playing a CD while cleaning the car so went for a drive round the block to charge up the battery, tried it again and luckily it worked! Phewwwwwwww!!!

Well done.

I never operate the roof without the engine running. That way you never get it stuck halfway with a flat battery which WOULD be a problem!
