Re: steering wheel
Can you not re use the airbag from your 01 and just fit the steering wheel itself.

No, a multiplex steering wheel will not fit on a preplex. It needs to be the same plex. You can use your own airbag but the steering wheel needs to be preplex.

Re: steering wheel
what are the differences in them?
is it just the airbag connections or the spindle aswell?

Re: steering wheel
I had a pre plex steering wheel off my old car and tried to fit on my new multiplex car and if memory serves the airbag connector was different. I think one screws in and one clips in and don't think I could mount it as it wouldn't fit. Have a look on 206info.co.uk there are people on there that know a lot more than myself maybe worth asking?

Re: steering wheel
That's right yorkielassy.
Pre-plex air bag screws on, multiplex is clips on. You have to get the wheel and airbag units to match and match car electrics.
Pre-plex, I'm pretty sure, has round holes at the back, and on mux they are small rectangular holes to get a screw driver in to unclip the airbag unit. Pretty sure airbag connections are also different on two systems .. they aren't interchangable any way due to the mux wiring differences.
The "squib" ring, which is the bit that fires the airbag, is also different ... the main difference is the price. When or mux one went on the HDi it was over £100 ... pre-mux would have been £60!! SO if you get an airbag light coming on pray it's not that bit that's gone!

Re: steering wheel
I have an 04 which I'm guessing is a multiplex system.
Airbag lights are on which I think is because the squib has been replaced with a hatchback one. (Has the switch for the rear wiper) if I bought a squib from another multiplex 206cc being broken, would the ecu accept it?

Re: steering wheel
Getting the codes read will pinpoint the problem, as it's just as common to have problems with the seat airbags / belt pre-tensioners or associated plugs and wiring.

Re: steering wheel
Good idea in theory, but Capncol's right - the best thing to do at this point would be to get the error codes checked, just in case the fault isn't the COM2000 unit itself.cabrioman wrote:I have an 04 which I'm guessing is a multiplex system.

It would be worth going to http://www.peugeotforums.com and looking at their "Peugeot Planet Map" to see if there is a "Peugeot Planet" contact near to you. You are looking for someone with PP2000 to do a diagnostic. You may pay a few quid of someone's time for this, but it's better than being faced with a £40+VAT garage bill, and you can be sure they will have the right tool to give you a definitive answer as to what/where your ECU says the problem is.
