body repair
Hi guys, could anyone give me a rough idea as to what the price would be to get a rear quarter panel repaired (passenger side) and a rear bumper respray, unfortunately my car was a victim of hit and flee, some idiot reversed into the back of my car and left, there was a witness and got his reg and car make, it checks out it doesn't exist, so id rather pay for it than have insurance write it off.

That sort of job needs to be seen to give an idea of price.
You don't say what paint it is, as mettalic is dearer than solid colour

Re: body repair
Hi its aegan blue, its got a glitter effect close up, its not the standard metallic blue. i did go to a garage today which was recommended, and they were just taking the biscuit, trying to quote me 1200, i should only be paying for paint and labour, but this garage tried to tell me i need a new rear bumper trim, which i dont, all in all rear bumper and trim have only suffered paint damage, no cracks no dents, so really all i need is quarter panel dents pulled out and paint. Not having the best of luck with this car.lol

Re: body repair
I expect they were quoting to insurance approved repair standard, in which case there is a lot more work than you think (spray to 4 panels - boot, rear bumper, door and wing in primer, basecoat and laquer, and plastic needs special primer ) new factory original panels if required which need to be welded to factory standard.jaybluecc wrote:they were just taking the biscuit, trying to quote me 1200, i should only be paying for paint and labour, but this garage tried to tell me i need a new rear bumper trim, which i dont, all in all rear bumper and trim have only suffered paint damage, no cracks no dents, so really all i need is quarter panel dents pulled out and paint. l
Have you looked at the bumper mounts, infil piece mounts and wheel arch liner for damage?
Cheers Col.

Re: body repair
All the bumper mount pieces and inner arch are ok, they quoted me 300 for paint and parts, the rest was labour and v.a.t
It wont need a new panel just the dents pulling out and filling so he said, but i didnt need parts as there is absolutely nothing wrong with the bumper.

Re: body repair
Don't be too sure ... Once they take the bumper off you may find broken fittings which means it doesn't locate properly. The strips are also hard to remove without breaking the fixing clips.
Any metallic paint is also hard to match/blend in.
Take it somewhere else and ask .. I'd get a few quotes anyway.

I did go and get a few more quotes today, one said 550, and another 300, i thought that was a bit too cheap, but they were busy working on a Ferrari so that cant be that bad.
