Right Side light and rear right light not working

Post by MikeT68 »

Hi all,

I just joined the club with a 2002 1.6 206 cc.
I have a problem with the front right side light and rear right tail light (not brake).
With the lights on, they do not illuminate. I have (I hope) checked all the fuses and all seem okay. Also popped out the headlights to make sure connectors were plugged in okay, and they seem to be.
I put a multi meter on both tail lights. the left is all okay but there is no voltage to the right tail light. Indicator and reverse are okay on the right. Don't know if it linked but the lower console lighting for heater switches and light height adjust aren't on either.

Any hints?

I also get the beeps when driving over 5mph. Roof cycled and problem clears up but comes back when I restart the car. Will try to find all the micro switches and press test them.

Thank you in advance.

Mike

The rear bulb holders can get badly corroded because of the light housing filling up with water. £18 for new bulb holder from Ford Peugeot Spares in Romford.

Thank you,

I have ordered a new light cluster, lets hope that sorts it, then it's just the front right sidelight and the roof closed beeping to get sorted.
I am hoping the light problem isn't caused by the BSI.

Check the boot catch is adjusted correctly. If it isn't the microswitch in it may not be closing.

Also check the connection blocks hidden by the boot lid linings. We had one pull loose when I tried to change tge third brake light unit and gave the same bleeps. Passenger side. Clip on connector is broken so pulls out easily. Now taped.

Thanks for the tips, I have replaced the light cluster, sadly no joy.
I have also had all the linings off and checked all the connectors, they all seem good as does the boot catch switch. difficult to say if when the boot closes it releases the switch as I am not small enough to lay in the boot and look.

I have ordered a new remote key (car didn't have one) so I can do a BSI reset, hoping that may resolve a few of the problems.

Pins 15 & 11 are the power out from BSI to tail light 15 & 10 for the front

Hi Capncol,
Thanks for your help so far.

I have a new key now and tried the BSI reset with no luck.

When you say pins do you mean fuses or pins on one of the connector blocks?
If the blocks can you tell me which block/connector it is.
I am guessing it is the one in the middle on the left.
On another note the is a socket empty on the right 2/3 rds of the way back (like a 2-4 pins connector) should it be empty.

I will get a continuity tester and see if the wires are good once i know where they are.

Thanks

Mike

If you look closely, the pins are numbered in tiny digits at the ends of the sockets. You can then count along (if that makes sense)

That does make sense, I will have a look see what I can find.
Do you know which socket the side light and tail light pins are in?

Col,

Update - I found the connector pins 15/10/11 and tried a continuity test but was inconclusive.
with 1 lead on tail light i got continuity on all the pins even when connector in BSI.

I ran a wire outside the car and connected tail light to pin 10 and 11 and all the lights came on the center console lower lights all also came on.

As a temp fix i have wired left tail light to right light which works and also brings alive the front side light and center console lights. will this cause any harm?

I take it this means i have a wiring issue somewhere in the car with a broken wire.

Is the standard 206 bulb holder the same as used in the 206cc? I need to replace my n/s again as water has got into the lens again and caused corrosion. I just cant get the connection working again. The supply works, earth works but nothing is getting to the live terminal.

If the cc uses the same plate bulb holder it would be easier to get this. Drilled a hole in bottom of lens housing.

Should imagine they will be the same if both are from plex or pre plex car.

Glad this topic has popped up as I have a gremlin with the drivers side front side light too, it illuminates when i press the brake pedal.

But it works properly with the lights on too, also my heater control illumination doesn't work either.

Must be a common fault this somewhere as ive had my clusters apart and cleaned up and all working properly.
