Boot beeping when closed

Hey there i believe this be a common problem with these cars though thought i would double check. My boot catch seems to slice through the little black plastic grommet around the metal that it clips around... causing the car to beep and tell me the boot is open when infact it isnt. A couple of times i have coated the clip in thick black tape but it still seems to cut through this. My question is... is it something i am doing i.e the way i am opening the boot or is it a common thing? secondly any suggestions of a more permanent fix? not a massive problem doesnt bother me too much just wondering if any other fellow 206ccers have this problem?
