Roof Hydraulic Pump not rotating?

Post by Spitfire6 »

Hi,
I have had issues with the car such as constant beeping when roof up. Turned stereo up-sorted..
Then, when roof open; constant bleeping and windows will not work when roof open.

The above was traced to the near-side rear catch not locking as the off-side catch did. (the catches near the white U shaped deals. When I helped the catch close with a finger prod, all was good.
So this single catch (Micro-switch) was the cause of all the problems- As its the last stage in opening and closing the roof- it has to click-into place. mine wasn't.

Today decided to fix the problem. I adjusted the control cable about 3/4"!! and seemed to work better.

Ran the roof many times up and down. Checked the widows open with roof down- working.
Checked the rear demister switches on with roof closed- working. The problem appeared to be fixed..

Now my pump will not run. I had to manually close the roof on my own.

What is requirement for pump to run? I have the blind pulled back and roof locks opened? I am lost.

One thing I have noticed: Drivers side roof lock open and windows will not open/close. OK, but, passenger lock open and drivers lock closed; windows will open/close.
Could the reason for the pump not running when I request open roof be because it cannot see the passenger roof lock being unlocked?

What can stop the pump motor from running when requested?

I also can not use the car now as the front of the boot lid will not close and latch. Related? not a Scooby.

Any clues in the above?

Cheers in advance,
Iain.

PP2000 has been installed.
Easyer said than done;
Had to:
Reformat HD
Re-installed XP 32 bit.
Installed Lexia
Installed PP2000
Activated both packages.

I have imaged the HD to a DVD, so I can easy install the whole working package on any PC/note-book and will not need to go thru all the hassle of installing the software ever again.
All weekend F***ing with the installation..

Anyhow, after one interface module stopped working, I used a spare one and was able to get the roof working again. I still need to sort out the left top lid boot switch, but for now a flick of the thumb will suffice.

Reason the pump would not work was:
Watch-dog timers within the software for roof open and close times. If certain actions are not complete within certain times the software inhibits hydraulic operations. Why the only way to reset the watch-dog times is via pp2000 is anyone's guess. Bad programming in my opinion; ignition key off, should reset them!! Crap programming?

Anyhow, had fun setting loads of options on the car.

A nice piece of kit, that I wish I had used before. My coil-pack problem was stored as a fault. Everyone should own one!
If anybody wants to use mine, your welcome to come to Burnley and use it.

Cheers,
Iain.
