Radio beep

I know others have suffered this problem. My questions are 1. does anyone know what starts it? and 2. does anyone know how I can fix it myself?

Needs coding to the car, vin code not a 4 digit security code, needs peugeot planet.

Have you replaced it?

Had to replace the radio of a friend's car the other day. It started beeping, and could not be configured with Planet, so it was clearly defective. You can get them on EBay, and some sellers will code the radio with your VIN, so you won't need to get it done by someone with Planet.

The really irritating thing is this is the second time it has happened in 3 years. First time I had it fixed by the main dealers but at ridiculous expense. I wanted to find out why it happens. It has not been disconnected and neither has the battery. It just started for no apparent reason.

Well, it seems to be a weakness in individual radios. It's a throwaway society, so no-one is going to bother to fault find on it, assuming they could even get the technical documentation to facilitate that.

Rather than pay the stealer a fortune, just get another on EBay!

So, how about this. If I remove the beeping radio and install an old Sony one I kept from a different car will that beep too?

No, provided you connect it correctly, but it will not integrate with the display on the dash, and you will lose the stalk control under the steering wheel.

You can use the stalk control too with an adaptor lead
