Hi all,
Sorry to start another thread but I wasn't successful in locating a previous thread that covered the issue I am experiencing.
I have a 206 HDi 2.0 with around 97k miles on the clock.
It has been experiencing a rather unusual power loss fault which is as follows:
When travelling at around 70mph, at some stage (it varies, from almost immediately to several hours of motorway driving) I am greeted with a beep, the check engine light comes on & the car slows to approximately 62mph with no further acceleration available (foot on floor results in no reaction).
Then, at some stage (again, no consistency here, can be a few seconds or a few minutes) the car picks up again and all is well aside from the check engine light remaining on.
This then happens intermittently until the car is switched off. The check engine light goes off eventually but it can take a few days.
I ran a diagnostic check, as did my mechanic, and it returned a fault code for the EGR that has since been replaced, but the problem persists.
Any ideas what the issue might be? It's pretty frustrating & makes longer journeys both frustrating and mildly perilous.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What code are you getting? What reader was used?

Re: Loss Of Power At High Speeds
Hello,
Thanks for replying, my apologies for the delay.
Not sure which code reader was used, I borrowed a friend's cheap one & then my local garage used theirs when they replaced the solenoid.
Code that showed is: P0401 - EGR Flow Insufficient.
I took it to a Peugeot specialist last week, no faults showing & they couldn't replicate the fault (unsurprisingly it occurred on my journey home from the garage....)
The did confirm that it sounded like the engine was going into 'limp mode', which makes sense, but the car seems unwilling to divulge the reason(s) for it....

Re: Loss Of Power At High Speeds
Try disconnecting MAF sensor and run it a few days disconnected.

Thanks. I'll give this a shot - anywhere I can acquire a guide or similar in order to undertake this work?Capncol wrote:Try disconnecting MAF sensor and run it a few days disconnected.
Is it likely to be my DPF filter at all?

Re: Loss Of Power At High Speeds
It's in the inlet pipework near air filter housing. Just unplug it. Don't think your car has a DPF but the 1.6's do.
