Fast beep roof alarm during driving - Window and Roof fault

Post by Franky »

Hello and Hugs to all. I just registered here from Germany, Engelskirchen and hope to find
good tips for my roof / window problem on my 206cc .

At first there was a fault with the front door windows. I used the roof and windows for 2 years without any problems since i buyed the car. 8 weeks ago, I´d closed the roof, but then the front windows couldn´t be closed. After opening and closing the roof again, the failure still happend. When i opened the roof, the windows could be closed normaly. When i closed the roof, there was no funktion on the windows.
I decided to close the windows with open roof. Then i closed the roof manually. Since that, roof and window funktions are out of use by using the controls. And by driving more then 5 or 10 km/h a constantly fast beep tone appears during driving the car. I hope that I explained the problem as exactly as I can do and you guys understood what had been going on :-)

Thanks in advance for tips what i should do at first to get my roof and window problem fixed.

sincerly, Franky

Fast beep roof alarm during driving - Window and Roof fault

Post by Franky »

I found a posting here which say´s " Open pump rubber housing pop plastic cover on the right hand side relay press the top in thats it " here

/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16770&hilit=constant+beeping

My english isn´t native and I´ve got to learn some more new technical words here. Help please.
1. Can i find the Pump Ruber in the boot ? I think so...
2. pop plastic cover on the right hand side relay press the top
means, open the plastic cover ? allright, but what means : Press the top ?

Greetings Franky

"Press the top" means apply finger pressure to the upper surface of the relay, or Drücken Sie die Oberseite mit dem Finger.

ok fine. seems my english is ok to locate the components :-)
I had a call with my local car service garage today. I intend to let them read out and reset the ECU at first.
Also to see what the controller say´s about some Switches if possible. They will make it for 25,- Euros.
I had read that the ECU manages both, the windows and the roof . If you think i should do other things at first, let me know.

The fault begans with the windows that wouldn´t get closed after I had closed the Roof electrically as usual.
There are so much hints here that i am a little bit confused on what to do at first.

The last Roof action of closing was ok. But now there are no funktions on the windows. And its still beeping while driving.

When the windows wouldn't lower, did you get the confirmation chime to say the roof cycle had completed?

Hi, i had checked the roof and window funktions yesterday again. Also Switch E. optical . I tested some Switches if they do click. allright sofar. I got WD 40 contact cleaner and used it on the most switches. Exept Switch G.

The Chime sound by closing the roof could be heard.

After checking the switches and spraying them with the contact spray i startet the roof opening process by using the electric roof open button. all fine. the windows drive down and the roof drive opens .

with open roof the windows could be closed electricaly. all fine. up and down ok.
But after closing the roof again, the windows couldn´t be closed as the last time.

So, i had opened the roof again electricaly.. then i had closed the windows (up), i closed the roof manual again as some weeks
ago.

So, the Chime is there. Thats all info i got now from here.
Is the question ? : is still a switch in the boot tells the ecu , that the windows cant closed ?????
Is the sounding chime, telling that the two roof switches A and B are running correct ?

Greetings, Franky

It seems like the roof ECU is not seeing the end of the roof close cycle. I wouldn't keep manually opening & closing roof as sometimes this can lock the ECU.

Thanks col. for reply. What might the others say. I would realy go on it by another way.
1. the continous beep while driving.
2. unable to open the window while driving with closed roof.
Things i want to remedy

Maybe as you write it comes out by repeating it manually, but shouldn´t I do a "read out" end reset at my local garage mechanic to see detailed system info ? My question is. Will the Computer showing what´s possible wrong at ecu ?

Also i was reading about a Reset by unpluggin the battery power. But how should i do when i have to open the driver side window ( I had read that in 2 guidance to reset BSI)

I think the fact that it beeps while driving, and the windows won't work, is a sign that one/both microswitches on the top of the windscreen pillars are not working correctly, or the wiring to them has a fault.

To test this unplug the switches and connect together the two pins in each wiring connector. Then close the roof and try to raise the windows. If that works, one/both of the switches is the problem.

If that does not work, then connect together pins 6, 18 and 19 in the 26 pin connector which plugs into the roof ECU and plug it back into the ECU. If that works, it is the wiring at fault.

Franky, this is one of those occasions to use PP2000 diagnostics if you can't trace it to a faulty microswitch. BSI is unlikely to work as the roof has it's own ECU in the boot which also controls the windows
