I have replaced the rear lambda sensor and yesterday i did a BSI reset, the MIL light went out and i was a happy camper all evening but this morning the light came back on.
There has been a smell of gasoline from the car but i think it stopped when i replaced lambda sens( not absolutely sure). The engine runs a bit rough when cold but seemed to run fine when cold after bsi reset. after reset i took the car for a good loong ride, it ran rough in the beginning but was just fine after a kilometer or so.
I dont have a computer suitable for pp software or the leads needed for i diagnose but i connected a Vgate wifi OBDII reader and the app dashcommand, its not realy compatible but i got some sort of result.
P0170
Fuel Trim Bank 1
P0141
02 Sensor Heater Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 2
P0135
02 Sensor Heater Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1
Does theese readings mean anything at all considering its coming from an unsupported device?

Re: MIL Light illuminated
0141 & 135 could explain the rough running at start up
0170 says the engine has trouble correcting the fuel *mixture* (which in turn is controlled largely by O2 readings)
I would replace upstream O2, clear the codes and report back here the results

Fit a Bosch lambda.
Don't be tempted to buy cheap ... they cause more problems than they solve.

I didnt see your reply until it was too late... the rear oxygen sensor was replaced by LAM-DOX2009, Denso from what i found out googeling it. It wasnt cheap at all... bought it over the counter at the local parts dealer without specifying Bosch brand.gazza82 wrote:Fit a Bosch lambda.

So is NTK but their lambda sensors are a different ohm rating than Bosch.IanL wrote:DENSO is an excellent Japanese brand.

Re: MIL Light illuminated
I replaced upstream lamda a few days ago, also sparkplugs- peugeot originals. did a bsi reset an went for a good trip and it all seemed fine, after a day or so the MIL Light came back on, the engine runs fine when i accselerate fast but it seemes to die out a bit when driving grandma style, around 1600-2300 revs it seemes to have some problems.
Any tips or tricks?
I also replaced the link arm...

Re: MIL Light illuminated
That's not needed in this case Ian. The Black spark plugs are confirming P0170 Fuel Trim Bank 1.
Do you have live data on your scanner? You need to check IAT & coolant temp. Look for lower than expected readings i.e if ambient temp is 15 deg, then IAT should be around that temp (maybe a couple of degs higher due to underbonnet temp) Coolant temp should be close to 90 degs at full operating temp- Don't go by the gauge.

Re: MIL Light illuminated
This scanner cant reed live data from the peugeot. It only reads a few items and codes, i dont trust it a lot.
last scan reading today:
P0170
fuel trim bank 1
P0135
02 sensor heater circuit bank 1 sensor 1
P0141
02 sensor heater circuit bank1 sensor 2
After clearing codes the engine runs better and no notisable loss of power/decreasing of revs. Still some smell of gasoline from exhaust. I`we driven it for a good 20 min, i guess the coolant gauge is not to be trusted, cant seeme to get temperature over about 78 deg c on the gauge. oil temp also semes low.
Shold i try to check funktion of the IAT sensor?

Re: MIL Light illuminated
A pro scanner will give live data (invaluble when carrying out diagnostics)
Live data will show O2 sensors switching, and the temps the ECU is being given by the temp sensors. Puzzled you are getting O2 heater cicuit faults after changing them or are they now cleared? Haven't got an exhaust blow have you?
Fuel trim is the one to concentrate on first. Don't worry about oil temp- that take ages to come up.
Coolant temp should be around 90 at running temp. You may have a lazy thermostat.
You really need to eliminate IAT & Coolant temps as the ECU uses these to calculate fuelling, the O2's then fine tune it (fuel trim)
