Hi,
The car was working fine and did the MOT with no problems. All all was working and then rooftop stopped working and several problems came along. At the moment I already changed the speedo, even changed the "dashboard" and nothing. when I reset the bsi the needle moves but then nothing.
My mechanic saw that the speedo is working and all is working to the ECU. all fuses are ok.
The rooftop also stopped working at the same time.
Is there anything you can tell me to help please?
regards
Tom

Re: Speed not moving rooftop not working
The roof won't work without an input from the speedo (It is disabled above 5mph)
Need a bit more info such as age of car

Re: Speed not moving rooftop not working
The roof has an ecu that monitors the speed, if it detects no reading when it knows the car should be moving the ecu disables itself to protect the roof from being opened since it cant detect if the car is traveling under 5mph. This will need resetting by diagnostic tool unfortunately, also a non working speedo will give abs fault, airbag fault, make the interior light flash when a door is opened on door setting and even an aircon fault on diagnostics.
Most common faults are bad or damaged wiring to the speed sensor, the speed sensor itself or the speedo drive cog which is located inside the housing bolted to the diff casing. Its very easy to damage it after replacing the long driveshaft (eg after a clutch change) as the shaft goes through the centre of it.

I'm sorry to revive an old thread, but I cant seem to locate the drive cog? Can you point me in the right direction or to a thread about this issue?Slo wrote:...
