Access to fuel pump?

Post by johnbrander »

2004 2.0ltr cc, need access to the fuel pump as suspect the pump not switching off and been getting "fuel trim bank 1 and misfire detected along with anti pollution fault.
I've just replaced all 4 fuel injectors (new) a couple of days ago prior to this without any problems due to another fault that showed up.
Tried to depressurise the system the next day as had some running problems with anti pollution fault showing etc and couldn't depressurised the fuel rail no matter how many times I pressed the relief valve.
Removed the ECU unit under the bonnet to gain access to the pump relay but nothing there
Parked up for a couple of days and hey presto problem no longer exists so thought that perhaps swapping the pump over would be a good place to start (I don't have PP diagnostics).
Any way removed the bottom part of the rear seat but plastic covers to gain access for the fuel pump aren't there! but can't figure out how the "upright" part of the seat is removed - done the 10mm nut removal but how is the very top part unclipped please.
Thanks in advance
John

Pump will be running all the time engine is.
I would be checking ignition system (plugs/coil pack) and O2 sensors for those faults
Cheers Col.

Replaced the O2 sensors last year when I replaced the Cat.
Just a little odd the with the engine off for 10+ mins fuel rail wouldn't depressurise even holding the relief valve in for 5 secs, several time in succession.
Need to find the pump relay and swap it then change the pump will also get a coil pack !

Have you checked for air leaks etc? Is fuel trim too high or too low? coolant temp correct (on scanner)? Was it a genuine cat? Better still, can you paste up the live data, along with the test condition (cold/hot engine. Air temp. 1 set readings @ idle and 1 @ 2000rpm)
Up to you, but I think you're looking in the wrong place.
Cheers Col.

Bosch sensors and approved cat? Some makes just cause even more problems ...

My daily runner is broken too so having to hire a car. Went to it again and all OK.
Think I leave it for the moment and see if it re-occurs - only do about a 1000mls p.a. in it
Thanks anyway I'll get diagnostics on it asap
