Can anyone help? what is it???

Post by Fihen »

My car is a 2002 206cc 1.6 auto and has been involved in an altercation with a kangaroo. Now my problem. There is a black plastic cylinder thing fitted to the body inside the front right fender. It has two plastic tubes attached to one end nearest to windscreen/door and an extrusion out of the other end. this extrusion does not appear to be connected to anything. Unfortunately the part in question has be demolished by the impact from a kangaroo and as I have temporarily repaired the fender I could do nothing about the cylinder. Although I do not have a headlight I still want to use the car if I have a need to but wonder will I cause more fault codes by not having this cylinder/filter in place. Sorry about my technical terminology.

Sounds like the charcoal filter or purge canister, it draws fumes from the fuel tank into the inlet manifold.

Hi all and thanks to SLO it must be the charcoal filter because on closer examination I could see fine particle of black filter stuff. Now is this going to cause problems if I use the car untill I can replace it???

Probably wont do any harm to run it as it is but it might put the light on if the solenoid isn't plugged in, even if its just the solenoid on its own left hanging.
