Rear fog light not working, is there a relay

Post by Buzz »

So I have a 206 1.1 with the one central rear fog lamp. Switch works, dashboard idiot light comes on but there is no voltage to the rear fitting.
This model has no rear fog fuse so before I strip out my carpets and door panels looking for bad wires can anyone tell me if there is a relay to check.
I assume that there must be as the headlights must be on for the fogs to work which logically means there would be a relay?
Any help would be appreciated.

This board is only for the 206CC (Coupe Convertible) but I have the SEDRE (Peugeot wiring database) and have had a look. It seems that, if your car is multiplexed, the switching is done by a processor in the BSI (fascia fusebox) and controlled via the multiplexing processor in the stalk unit. If there is a relay involved, it is an integral part of the BSI

If it is not multiplexed, it is supplied via Fuse No 19, which is shown as a separate individual fusebox/fuseholder, but is not shown in the handbooks, so I don't know where it is located! There is no relay involved - the switching in the stalk unit contrives to obtain the supply from the headlamp circuit.

Both diagrams show the warning lamp having the same supply as the lamp itself, so it follows that, if the lamp is lit, the problem can only be wiring or bulbholder contacts. Check the bulbholder earth contact is well connected to the car's earth - earth points often corrode.
