I think we all agree that car insurance tends to be one of the biggest rip offs of all time - sometimes bordering on legal day-light robbery! My insurance isn't cheap - thats mainly due to my age and job (but to be honest how the latter changes the risk to the car is beyond me??!!)

However, at the moment I am splitting my time between my home and a far away place of work. Most of the week I live at home but for a small part of it I live closer to my job.

Soon I will have to spend more time where my job is and I should change my insurance. I work and stay in a city centre where car insurance is expensive due to the risk. It's gonna cost a fortune.

Here's the deal though... my car is parked in an underground car park (which is exclusive to my small block of flats). The gates are always locked and are only opened with a security remote control. There is a CCTV camera monitoring the car park at all times - which is viewed by on site consierge / security and can be watched on the telly in my flat. The car has a Disc-lok stop lock, alarm and imobiliser. When it's parked there, short of someone tunnelling in - it's pretty unmoveable. Is there any way that insurance companies can be given this advice to consider in the quote. They only seem interested in my dreadful postcode and my wallet.

The fact is the car is less safe on my drive-way at my home address in a good postcode!

grrrrrrr. :?

well i would imagine that if you're going to be living there more time than your at home address you should say that the new address is where the car is stored. Then you get a different postcode whihch there computers will tell them is secur (tell them as well) and that should have some affect !

not that i know much about insurance mind.
