:x I have been lending my CC to a friend recently, and suggested that the best way forward would be for him to buy a spare key for himself.
To my surprise and astonishment, he brought the car back yesterday and told me that he had to pay the staggering amount of £95.00, NINETY FIVE quid !!!!!.
I have asked him for a copy of the invoice and will be calling both the dealer and PUG customer service to query this extortionate charge. The story they spun him was that the programming would take 1/2 hour of service time - even though he supplied the relevant key code card.
Anyone else encountered this ??
Yours disgustedly

1/2 hour of service time is this plug it, type in a few numbers, go away have a cup of tea, scratch a*se come back half a hour later and unplug or 1/2 of hard work.
Ask them.
They may have your car all day to service it but the don,t charg for 8 hours of work. At least I hope not.

i think £95 is a standard average cost. maybe some dealers would do it cheaper as a kind of favour, but at normal prices i don't think £95 is anything unusual.

Hi Rich
Yes, I do have a spare, being supplied with 2 when I purchased the car back in June 2001. However, the "Other Half" has that one, I have the original and so I needed another for the mate who is borrowing the car.
Thanks for everyones feedback - but it still seems ludicrously expensive for a key !!

Just to complete the story, I went to use my original key over the weekend and surprise surprise, it didn't work !!
My mate who purchased the new, 3rd key contacted PUG, to be told that you can only ever have 2 keys - when a new one is programmed, one of the originals "drops out", leaving you with only 2 keys.
PUG did say that if the old key was brought back they would refund the cost of the latest one - but did anyone else know that you could only ever have 2 keys ? Might have been better if the garage had asked if 2 keys were still in existence to save this hassle.....Hey ho !!

Hi Rich
It still not over. I have now just been told that you can have up to 5 keys-but they all need to be programmed at the same time.
PUG have offered to do this at no charge, but we still need to get the car and all keys to them before it can be done.
Best regards
