There was an article about the 206 GTi 180 in last week's Autocar. In a couple of places they mentioned how poor the 206 interior is.

What's everyone else's opinion? I don't think it's bad -- OK it's not Merc quality but it's funky and stylish and has a neat computer thingy. What's an example of a "good" interior on a production car, and what are the differences?

Our other recently-owned cars (Scoob and Saxo) have had interiors called "crap" by the motoring press. The Scoob I can understand, as bits rattle and fall off it and you can see the ignition wiring under the dash , but I reckoned the Saxo interior was OK. Maybe I'm missing out on something.... ;)

I don't think it's bad
I think it's fine. It's all pretty neat with the controls reasonably marked with good feedback and all seem to be in the right place. I thought interior of the Civic Type R looked bloody awful to be honest. The Pug wraps around a bit and looks quite neat. If I were to find anything to whinge about I'd be tempted to put a more meaty control to move the roof. I keep hitting it instead of the leccy windows and it's too easy to push accidentely. After all I'm sure it's possible to make the handbrake servo assisted and use a button instead, but there's something satisfying about having a large handle to do it for you. The roof control should be the same. Something that goes "clunk" when you operate it...

I think the 206 dash is OK. It might not be as flash as a Fiat coupes or a Audi TT's, but it is functional with few switches. The seats are comfy enough , in the front. I can't think of any other interior of a car in this class I prefer. It's just the car press again. Peugeot obviously have not bribed the car press with enough back handers and freebie cars recently.

I have always liked french cars dashes compare to any german cars. For example opel's dashes are very "boring".

However we must say that GTi's 180 interior is much different than ours, (if you see the seats are much much better).
As for the comparison of Gti 180 & RS32, I believe they are completely different
a) R32's engine V6 3.2lt with 240ps instead of 180ps of 206 GTi's 2.0lt
b) The price, do they cost the same? Don't think so.
So we have the quality & power as much as we pay. :|

I don't mind the interior is not tacky its practical. All those flash dashes are made out of materials which are an real bugger to clean. Ours have clean lines and smooth.

Ermie are you straying from the cc clan!

I also think the 206 dash looks fine.
In most articles the dashboard of the 206 is praised for what i've seen.

Volkswagen or Opel (vauxhal) Dashboards are the 2 most boring and cheapest car interior designers. A blue light doesn't make your dashboard nicer, but blue...
Plus both can't make a decent convertible

Oh and the Golf R32 is the last car i would buy in that sector... Befor i bought my CC i've doubted about a Focus RS and a Alfa 147 GTA but i went for the sun instead :D

Do any of you have some good pics of the interior of the GTI 180? i've looked around a bit but saw only a few small pic's of it.
