Hello again,

i own the 1.6 ltr cc and i want to ask about the engine temperature. The temperature of my engine is always around 90 C and when i am in traffic goes up to 100 C. It seems quite high comparing to my other car that is usually around 60 C. Is that common or i have an engine problem?

Cheers

Relax ITS OK. This is normal. If you are in traffic the temperature is logical to go a bit up but check out that if you start moving again the temp will drop to normal levels.

Whilst i was driving with the top down the other day and the heater on high to compensate for the wind, the engine temp went up past about 110c. As soon as i put the roof up and lowered the temp back down it dropped to its normal 90c.

thats strange as normally when you turn the heater on in a car the engine temperature drops.

Always a useful trick when you are driving an old banger that overheats in traffic.

My car has the same behaviour, but because I don't trust any frenchman engineer (nor a greek one) I found a solution which it may rise the fuel consumption a bit but I can drive without anxiety. Try to turn on the AC you will see the temp dropping immediately at 70 C as a result of the ventilator (of the radiator) functioning.

For the 1.6ltr the 'normal' operating water temperature is between 90 to 98 C.
