help please :D

car started fine today when i moved it on the drive to wash it.

goes out tonight, took quite a few attempts to start and had to keep revving it to stop it cutting out. also got a catalytic converter message appearing and the yellow engine autodiagnostics light flashing.

drove the car 2 miles and left it sitting a little while.

hard to start it again but not as bad, catalytic message again and a nice anti pollution fault message thrown in to keep it company. this time the yellow light stayed on driving home.

after reading the manual it says to contact a pug dealer 'rapidly' - as they don't open 24hrs i guess that will have to be from work tomorrow - if it gets me there.

all this after deciding to keep the car - me & cars & problems don't mix very well.

anyone got any ideas on what is wrong ?

fills me with fear the even thought of needing to go to the monkeys :yikes:

thanx for the help lyndon :D

went out today, car started fine but still had the anti pollution fault message and yellow auto diagnostics light was still on.

phoned my local dealer from work - they said they couldn't look at it as they had 40 cars in today :? i said the manual states to contact your dealer 'rapidly' :?

he still said they couldn't look at it until next week and i couldn't wait on the car and would need to leave it with them :? i said, won't it harm the car - he said it should be ok :? :? :? :? :?

made arrangements to borrow a car next friday so called back to book it in for then, i added creaking driver seat, creaking roof catch, recall, intermediate service, loose carpet, manifold fooked again - may as well make the visit worthwhile :D

came out of work today and no message and the light had gone off as well - car must have been scared at thought of visiting the zoo - but it's still going in

Dont panic. I had this problem before, a while ago.

Mine started with the Cat Fault followed by a Anti Poll fault after about 5 miles up the road. This was about 2 or 3 months ago.

recently, last Wednesday, snow showers and windy weather caused the alerts to come back. They disappeared the day after. Not seen them since.

Peugeot at the time blamed the software being out of date. Yes the Software was out of date but it sure wasn't the cause for the faults!

Cat and Pollution faults can be caused by dirty, low grade, mixed grade (97, 98, super market job) petrol and other pollutaints in the air.
The weather can also effect the ECU and chuck out those msgs (after a car wash, for sure)

Peugeot Assistance (RAC, I think) gave me a hire car while mine was with Dealer. Very nice people :D

Let us know what happens.

Laters,
Chris.

i'll let you know what the monkeys say :)

if it was just error messages i wouldn't have been that worried but the yellow autodiagnosatics light being on made it seem a bit more serious.

I had just the same problem just before crimbo. Took to monkeys even though problem appeared to have stopped. They found no problem, but ordered me a new coil. On hols this week, but before I could book car in, yesterday, out to car, roof down - sunny!& up popped the same problem again & car really juddering - so aborted trip out & phoned monkeys. Can get it done in Burgess Hill tomorrow or wait till' 17th at Hove, which isn't an option, so really hoping we make it. Really hoping it will be that simple.
Also, the Hove guys told me that my squeky brakes are NOT covered by warranty - I thought some of you others had some luck with this??

I had this fault for the first time last week, I started after I took it through a brushless car wash, the car ran very rough with the revs going between 500 and 3k and the antipollution fault message displayed as well as the orange engine light being displayed (not flashing) I tried contacting Pug assistance (weekend) but got a message that the number is temporarily out of service. after a week of sitting in the garage the fault was gone.
