I've just spent 4 hours cleaning and now he looks gorgeous. cleaned him in particular for the meet, but not sure why I bothered so much as some 200 miles later its bound to be a little grubby.

Ha ha ha!
I spent AGES cleaning mine 2 and exactly the same thought whizzed through my head!
Some 200 miles later and I am sure a few birds would have aimed and hit the target and also those damn flies on the motorway!

I also checked the weather! (Its gonna be nice in the South ;))

See you there!
Julia

I reckon my bodily actions of washing my Pug has a long history behind it and probably harks back to America with the red Indians waving their hands about in the form of a rain dance, why else would it always rain when I go to wash my car?

Well those days are over, I've developed a cunning plan!

I pay someone else 6 pounds to wash it and hey presto - the sun still shines afterwards!

Or get the Diamond Brite or Silver Seal Protection.

That cuts time off the wash.

Except then you have to wash it twice!

Rachel, that's true, with Diamond Brite once washed you should apply the extra protection fluid and then rinse once more which can all get a bit laborious but at least you only have to do this once a month.

Anyone know (Rob?)if you have to go through the laborious process of applying an extra protection coating to the car (once per month) with other similar protection coated products?

I'd like to know cos I plan to use a similar coating when I pick up the SLK in September.

Good question Robbie, I'm after a bit of info on alternatives too. My Dad was looking at having his 2nd hand Merc done but has been quoted a fortune for Diamond Brite (he's got about twice the surface area of my little CC though!) Does anyone know if the other similar products (Supagard / Silver Seal etc) are cheaper and are they similar quality?

I've had my car supagarded and got no extra stuff to reapply on so I assume once on it should stay on and protect the car.

I don't understand why it takes so long, the car is soooo small, you can clean, buff and wax in about 1.5 hours. I nomally don't wax when i know its gonna rain and it only takes 15 minutes!!!

Am i doing something wrong!?!

This original thread was written on the saturday before the cc meet and so people were cleaning there cars to show off when they get there. Therefore I am assuming they spent this time not just on the outside but also on the inside. I myself have spent a good 3-4 hours cleaning my car but that includes cleaning my leather seats and also cleaning the engine bay as well!

Robbie,
I never reapplied my coatings on my cars. I just stuck to the Autoglym 'Shampoo Conditioner' as it does the same sort of thing.

Rachel,
I had all my Peugeots Supaguarded, this was £250 per car. But I have just had my Puma's (sorry for swearing  ) Silver Sealed. My car I got done by the Dealer for £50 (cost price - you know I like to haggle) and I had the wifes car done for £100 as we bought it from a rival dealer. The normal price at my dealers is £125.

Mvoong,
you should get a small box with the supaguard that contains extra fliud for application and a couple of cloths. Go back to the people who treated you car and demand it.

Well I suppose my cars may not be the norm because when I am not on night shifts they usually get washed every other day.

You all have gorgeous cars so
