Yesterday, I had a puncture, so I tried to fix it myself using one of the tins of Tip Top supplied by Peugeot. It didn't work, so I called the Peugeot Assistance and they sent someone to fix it (taking almost 2 hours to arrive).

They AA patrolman said that he would have been able to fix the puncture easily if I hadn't used the tin, but the tyre was now rendered irrepairable because the patch will not adhere to the sealant.

Instead of getting a tyre repaired (for free), I had to pay about £80 for a new tyre! They also wanted to charge me a callout charge because I wasn't carrying a spare wheel, but the AA know that the 206CC doesn't come with a spare wheel, so make exceptions in this case. :x

Thanks, I shall keep an close eye on the forums from now on in case another tip like that comes up, to avoid another costly mistake.

In the meantime, I do intend to complain to Peugeot and try and get my money back. I'll update the forum when I get a response.

By the way, Juan. Me gusta mucho su animación de 206.

Go to to the main www.peugeot206cc.co.uk page.

Click on 'Stuff' at the top of the page.

Then click on 'Downloads'.

Here you will find a letter sent to Peugeot by another owner with the same problem.

Might be worth a try?

I took my tyre back to the Peugeot garage (Brian Whiteside in Poole) to try and get my money refunded for a new tyre. The garager got in touch with Peugeot and they said that the tyre can be repaired.

The thoroughly cleaned the tyre out and have put a patch in it, so I now have a spare tyre (even if it's not on a wheel).

I still recommend to steer clear of the aerosol stuff unless absolutely necessary as I think it is quite a job cleanging it out of the tyre. :P

Surely thats gotta be illegal! Is it because there is nowhere to keep the spare? Would there be anywhere sensible to keep one if you supplied it yourself?!!

Not at all. There's no legal requirement to carry a spare wheel. Neither is there a requirement to carry a jack, wheel brace, pump, etc.

Well I never knew that, so in technical terms it's not fair that other cars should have to have a legal spare to pass their MOT!!! (Not that mine has ever failed on that!)

You dont need a legal spare to pass an MOT. Just if you have one it must be legal.
